Singer Efya has always had a clear sense of purpose when it comes to her career.
In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Issac Dadzie at the Bhim Fest on December 22, 2024, the soulful singer shared insights into her journey, her love for what she does, and her excitement for what the future holds.
“I really love what I do; it is my source of livelihood, and that is my purpose,” Efya began, her voice filled with passion.
“I found my purpose early in life so sometimes people will say that you have been doing it for a very long time, but it is not a very long time.

“Because I am still alive, and I just entered my thirties, I can do it for thirty more years.”
“Sometimes, when people call me an old geezer, I say I have not even done the things I want to do, which makes me an old geezer,” Efya chuckled. “I am excited for the future and especially for my development and growth.”
Efya’s perspective on age and career longevity is refreshing and relatable, especially in a world where the pressure to accomplish everything quickly often weighs on young professionals.
For her, the journey is ongoing, and she has an unyielding desire to push forward and evolve in both her personal and professional life.
Born as Jane Awindor, Efya has been a household name in Ghana and beyond, known for her hit songs and collaborations with international artists. But even with years of experience, she remains grounded, with a clear vision of what she wants to achieve in the coming years.
