It’s All Because Of Kwaku Smoke—Addi Self Finally Reveals Why Shatta Wale Sacked Him

In an exclusive interview with Joy Prime, Addi Self, a former member of the musical group Militants nurtured by Shatta Wale, opened up about the unexpected turn of events that led to their departure from Wale’s camp.

According to Addi Self, he was taken aback by the decision to sack them, as he had no prior indication of it. He pointed fingers at young rapper Kwaku Smoke, attributing the cracks in the SM camp to him.

Addi Self revealed that the infamous accusations made by Kwaku Smoke, accusing Wale of stealing songs, marked the beginning of their downfall. Wale took offence to these rants, and Addi Self admitted that he failed to intervene and discipline Smoke on Wale’s behalf.

Furthermore, Addi Self mentioned that they were all present when Kweku Smoke visited their camp, but their boss did not address the rapper’s visit.

“We didn’t leave on good terms; we got sacked by him. Everybody in Ghana knows that it was just an indoor misunderstanding. It was a hard moment for me, being real. But then I had to pick up the pieces and believe in myself. There was this artist that came to the camp, Kweku Smoke. He wasn’t introduced to us. I had never seen Kweku Smoke or known him”, he said.

A few months after Kweku Smoke’s visit, he was spotted in a live video hurling insults at the Shatta Movement boss, accusing him of stealing his song. Addi Self revealed that Shatta Wale had approached him to join the live session and retaliated by insulting Kweku Smoke. Despite never disrespecting Shatta Wale, Addi Self decided to stay out of their dispute as he was still unsure of the rapper’s intentions during his visit.

“So two months later, Smoke came on live video saying Shatta had stolen his song and blah, blah, blah and Shatta was like, I had to go on live video and tell the boy my mind and stuff. I was like, ‘I don’t know this boy. When he came here, nobody introduced him as part of us or anything. So I don’t want to be involved in that,” he said.

According to Addi Self, Shatta Wale’s attitude towards them changed after he refused to go live and insult Kweku Smoke.

“During Afro Nation, he didn’t call us to come and perform and stuff. He started ignoring us and stuff like that until he came and sacked us,” he revealed.

Adding that “I have had his back all the time; Kweku Smoke is a chicken. But I didn’t know what I was fighting for. I still don’t know what happened. So people painted me like a black sheep. Up to now, I’m still seen as the black sheep.”

Sadly, Addi Self disclosed that their separation has affected him so badly that, apart from losing friends, videos that are to be shot are left undone because the artists he featured are Shatta Wale’s friends.

“ I lost friends. I lost people. I’ve done collaborations with people who were supposed to show up for a video, but they didn’t show up because they were his friends and stuff like that. They’re artists in the industry, too. And then some of my songs that I left at the camp and all that. So it’s just a whole lot of things.”
