Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign has responded to Alan Kyerematen’s decision to drop out of the race for the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On Tuesday night (September 5, 2023), Kwame Owusu, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign manager, indicated in an interview with Oman FM that the candidate would not drop out of the contest because of intimidation.

Regardless of how the “establishment” retaliates against Ken and his group, he promised an equal and opposite response.

“We have the chance to a win, so we will not withdraw. Regarding ourselves, we will not withdraw. We wouldn’t give that chance to anyone, so they can do anything they want. We would fight with them until the very end.”

“Therefore, everyone should be ready. All of our supporters should be encouraged because we are going to win. If they intimidate us, we’ll intimidate them as well. We ourselves are prepared. Whatever they do, we will respond. If they resort to violence, we will respond,” he stated

According to Kwame Owusu, the NPP’s national council is to blame for the chaos surrounding the party’s search for a new leader. He said that Ken Agyapong’s victory in the NPP primaries was assured and encouraged the supporters of the other candidates who had to withdraw from the race.

“Our brother Alan has stated that he will not run, and Boakye Agyarko has also stated that he will not run. We welcome all of their supporters to join us. “There is a lot of space on our bus,” he added

On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, one of the most prominent candidates for the NPP flagbearership, Alan Kyerematen, formally withdrew from the race. His announcement comes the day before the New Patriotic Party holds nominations for the party’s November Congress, where Nana Akufo Addo’s successor will be chosen.

The intimidation of delegates at the previous Super Delegates conference influenced Alan’s decision to withdraw from the competition.
