Ghanaian musician Kweku Darlington has shared his thoughts on the current job market and education system in the country, emphasizing that having a certificate does not always guarantee employment.
Speaking on Cape Coast-based Property FM, he addressed the frustrations faced by graduates who, despite holding advanced degrees, often struggle to secure jobs.
Darlington highlighted the challenges that many young people in Ghana face upon completing their education.
He pointed out that although many graduates are equipped with academic qualifications, they are often left without jobs due to the lack of employment opportunities.
This situation, he argued, discourages students from pursuing higher education with enthusiasm, as there is little assurance of finding a job after graduation.
Reflecting on his own experiences and those of other successful artists, Kweku Darlington advised that young people should consider working immediately after completing Senior High School (SHS).
He suggested that gaining work experience and earning money could provide a more practical path for many.
He cited musicians like Guru, Samini, and Stonebwoy, who prioritized working and making money after SHS before continuing their education.
These artists, according to Darlington, serve as examples of individuals who built their careers first and then returned to school once they were financially stable.
