Ciara Antwi, the wife of popular Ghanaian pastor Rev. Obofour, has addressed a series of rumours circulating on social media that allege she is a lesbian.
In a heartfelt statement, Ciara aka Obofowaa expressed her frustration over the accusations, highlighting the toll such baseless rumours can take on one’s personal life and reputation.
Her remarks reveal the challenges public figures face in navigating rumours and misconceptions in the digital age, where falsehoods can spread quickly and impact their loved ones.
“I don’t understand why, if you ignore people who start talking about you, they assume you’re a fool,” Antwi remarked, expressing her dismay.
She also voiced confusion over why her husband, Rev. Obofour, was drawn into the controversy, saying, “I don’t know why they even added a picture of my husband to the conversation.”
Ciara Antwi was resolute in defending her character, firmly stating that no one has ever seen her engage in any inappropriate conduct with a woman. She voiced her distress by leaving her fate to divine judgment, proclaiming,
“If what they are saying is true, may I suffer in life and become a cripple until I die.” She clarified her commitment to her marriage and her attraction to men, saying, “I am into men; that’s why I married my husband. I am proud to be his wife.”
She has taken a dignified approach, choosing not to engage with her detractors directly but instead placing her faith in a higher power.
“If I am not [a lesbian], I leave all those making these accusations in the hands of God,” she concluded, illustrating her determination to rise above the accusations and entrust justice to divine hands.
