Shatta Wale has once again proven that persistence and dedication are key to achieving one’s dreams.
After returning from his successful performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert in Kingston, Jamaica, the dancehall king opened up about the incredible journey that led to this historic collaboration with the Jamaican music legend.
In a statement to the media, Shatta Wale recalled how it took him 20 years to perform alongside Vybz Kartel, a journey filled with patience and unwavering belief.

“I told myself the first time I would perform in Jamaica, it should be with Vybz Kartel. It took me 20 years to make that happen,” he shared.
Reflecting on the long road to this moment, Shatta Wale explained that his desire to perform with Kartel started long before his arrest.
“Before he was arrested, I wanted to perform with him, and then he went to jail. I had to wait for him for thirteen years for this to become a reality,” he said.
Shatta also highlighted an important lesson he’s learned through this process: the power of staying true to oneself.
“When you are true to yourself, you will go places,” Shatta Wale asserted. He added, “People need to understand that I come from somewhere.
“I’m even learning Spanish now because the lady who saved me is Spanish.”
