If They’re Not Stealing, Why Not Encourage Them- Mercy Asiedu on Parenting and Acting

Kumawood actress Mercy Asiedu has opened up about her unwavering support for her children’s burgeoning interest in acting in a new interview on Hitz FM.

“My children have even started acting. So far as they are not stealing, I will encourage them to pursue it as a career,” she stated, her statement reflecting a heartwarming blend of maternal pride and the desire to pass on her legacy.

For many, the arts can often seem like a risky path, particularly in a society that values conventional careers. However, Asiedu sees the world of acting as a transformative force, one that has enriched her life significantly.

“Acting has been life-changing, and so I will encourage them,” she shared, emphasizing the impact this career has had on her personal growth and professional journey. This perspective stems from her own experiences, as she has navigated the challenges and rewards of an entertainment career.

Her commitment to nurturing her children’s talents is backed by tangible actions. Asiedu has set up a production house, recognizing the importance of creating opportunities for the next generation.

“If I don’t introduce my children and I get older, who will come and take over from me?” she posed, highlighting the necessity of succession in her field. This initiative not only opens doors for her children but also fosters a family legacy in the arts.

Encouraging children to explore their passions can be a delicate balance, especially in the entertainment industry, where success can be fleeting.

Asiedu’s approach, however, is rooted in understanding and openness. By allowing her children to express their creativity and pursue their dreams, she is setting a precedent that could inspire other parents to rethink traditional career paths for their kids.
