Mercy Asiedu has dismissed the notion of participating in the campaign trail for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the presidential and parliamentary elections approach.
The Kumawood actress, who recently returned to Ghana from the United States, informed B Ice during an interview on Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi that she does not have the time to campaign for any political party, including the ruling NPP.
In her response to the host, she emphasized her lack of availability. In the past, Mercy has expressed concerns regarding the neglect of the creative sector and may have considered aligning herself with a party that prioritizes the interests of the creative arts to foster industry growth.
As Ghanaians prepare to vote in the upcoming elections, Mercy Asiedu has urged officials to pay attention to the Creative Arts sector and not overlook its significance.
It must be noted that Mercy Asiedu was seen in a previous video actively encouraging Ghanaians to vote for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming presidential elections in December 2024.
This appeal was made during a recent gathering with Mahama and members of the Creative Arts community.
The meeting, which took place in Accra, served as a platform for various stakeholders in the creative arts sector to engage with the NDC flagbearer.
Mercy stated assertively that during Mahama’s previous tenure as Ghana’s president, he successfully revitalized the creative industry and even provided vehicles to support the work of some individuals within the industry.
