CP (Rtd) Dr. Benjamin Agordzo has revisited a pivotal moment in his career with the Ghana Police Service (GPS) while addressing recent allegations surrounding an RTI report.
The retired officer reflected on his removal from the police service, attributing it to his principled stance against unlawful orders during his time in Bolgatanga.
“I disobeyed what I considered an unlawful order from my Regional Commander,” Dr. Agordzo stated in a post shared on Facebook.
“Given another opportunity, I would make the same decision today because my conscience would not allow otherwise.” This defiance, he explained, resulted in a reduction in rank after his appeal but marked a defining moment in his commitment to integrity.
Dr. Agordzo’s reflections emerged as part of his response to allegations tied to an RTI report requested by Diana Daniels, a known associate of IGP Dampare.

The report, which has been criticized for containing inaccuracies, was linked to a petition by Kojo Otchere calling for Dr. Agordzo’s removal from his position as a lecturer at UPSA.
While addressing the RTI controversy, Dr. Agordzo emphasized the lessons drawn from his earlier experiences with the GPS.
“The events surrounding my removal from the service are documented in my book, From Persecution to Freedom: Reflections on My Journey Through the Justice System in Ghana,” he noted, referencing pages 92 to 100, where he shares insights on his career and the challenges he faced.
