In an interview on Kwaku Manu’s Aggressive Show, Ghanaian Highlife singer and former SarkCess Music signee Akwaboah shared insights into his late father’s significant role in his music career and personal life.
Akwaboah recounted their close bond and how his father was a mentor and advisor in his journey as an artist.
“My father was the only one I could go to and discuss my issues and songs with,” Akwaboah stated. “He was the only person who was real to me in the music industry.

“After I was done recording, he would tell me to add or remove something from it. He used to tell me something when he was alive, and I have understood it better now he is no more.”
The singer attributed much of his artistic growth to his father’s guidance, expressing regret over the absence of his father during pivotal moments in his life, including his recent marriage.
“I miss him a lot,” he remarked. “Since I got married, if there are some questions I would want to ask, ideally, I would have asked my father. But since he is no more, there is no one to ask.”
Akwaboah further reflected on how much he wished his father could have been present on his wedding day, underscoring the personal significance such a moment held for him.
“I would have loved my father to see me getting married,” he said. “If not for anything, at least to come home and see my newly-wedded wife so we eat together.

He would be happy that his son had accomplished something he couldn’t. But I know he is still pleased wherever he is now.”
Akwaboah’s late father, Kwadwo Akwaboah, was a celebrated figure in Ghana’s Highlife music scene, leaving a legacy that continues to influence his son’s career.
