Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has sparked a fresh wave of conversation following remarks he made about his mentor, business mogul Dr. Kweku Oteng.
The on-air personality, who hosts shows on Angel FM, expressed his deep respect for Oteng, who he regards as a father figure. However, he also raised concerns about balancing that respect with the demands and cries of the Ghanaian people, particularly in the face of political pressure.

In a statement, Mensah recalled a conversation in which he asked Oteng to caution him when necessary. “I respect Kweku Oteng because he can be my father, and when he advises me, I will listen to his advice.
“I am the one who told him to prompt me when I am going overboard,” Mensah said. However, his concerns took a sharper tone when he posed a rhetorical question: “Is it right to listen to Kweku Oteng over the cries of Ghanaians?”
Mensah’s statement comes just days after Dr Kweku Oteng, who owns the Angel Broadcasting Network, reportedly asked him to tone down his rhetoric on the occasion of his birthday.
While the intent was likely to protect Mensah from backlash, it seems to have triggered a more profound reflection on the responsibilities of media figures who speak truth to power, especially in Ghana’s politically charged atmosphere.
Mensah did not stop there, using his platform to address what he perceives as a growing climate of intimidation towards journalists.
“Most journalists working for Angel FM are timid because of the attacks they receive from these politicians,” he lamented, wondering when this culture of fear began.
He made it clear that he, for one, would not succumb to this pressure. “From now onwards, any politicians who attack Kweku Oteng, I will personally reveal your secrets because I am not a timid person,” he boldly stated.

Mensah’s defiance against political intimidation isn’t surprising given his outspoken nature. In previous years, he has been vocal about corruption and inefficiency in government, often finding himself at odds with political figures.
