I Was Willing to Adjust, But It Didn’t Work Out – Stonebwoy on Concert Clash

Stonebwoy has addressed the controversy surrounding his upcoming London concert on March 8, which coincides with a show featuring R2Bees.

In an in-depth conversation on the Afrobeats Podcast monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, he shared details about the situation and expressed disappointment over how it unfolded.

The clash, according to Stonebwoy, was not intentional. He revealed that his London show had been announced since October, long before the R2Bees event was publicized.

However, after realizing the scheduling conflict, he immediately reached out to the organizers of the Ghana Independence concert to find a solution.

“When we found out, I personally met with the organizers. I even offered to stay an extra week so I could perform at the Ghana Independence event as well. That was the agreement we reached, but for some reason, the announcement still went ahead,” he explained.

The multiple award-winning artist acknowledged that such situations are rarely seen in other music industries.

“If we are being honest, this wouldn’t happen in Nigeria. There’s no way a Davido and Wizkid would be booked for major shows on the same day. So why does it keep happening to us?” he questioned.

Stonebwoy further disclosed that he had a direct conversation with Dennis of Akwaaba UK, one of the key organizers of the Ghana Independence show, who allegedly felt disrespected by his initial announcement.

“I was told he felt I had disrespected him by not consulting before choosing my date. But truthfully, I don’t believe there’s any rule that requires me to do that. At the end of the day, there’s no monopoly on hosting events,” he stated.

Despite the misunderstanding, Stonebwoy remains focused on delivering an unforgettable performance for his London fans, insisting that the situation should serve as a lesson for better communication in the industry.

“At the end of the day, we should all be working towards the same goal—elevating Ghanaian music. This back and forth doesn’t help anyone,” he concluded.
