Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has dismissed reports suggesting that his companies are still indebted to Access Bank, stating that all outstanding loans were settled years ago.
Speaking in an interview, he clarified, “Yes, I was owing, but I paid it long ago. My company doesn’t owe Access Bank. Both Square Logistics and Excel Courier settled their debts in full.”
He explained that the recent circulation of his name in a list of loan defaulters was misleading, as the publication was nearly a decade old.

“The matter was settled. The publication that suddenly emerged on social media was from around 2014 or 2015 when we defaulted, but we paid Access Bank in full,” he emphasized.
Afenyo-Markin further detailed that his businesses had also resolved outstanding debts with other financial institutions.
“We had challenges with Standard Chartered Bank, and we defaulted, but we finished paying them.
The same with NIB. It’s even normal for businesses to owe, but what matters is that I honoured my obligations,” he stated.
His response comes in the wake of social media discussions about a list of alleged defaulters, which he says is being taken out of context.
