Ghanaian artiste manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has reflected on the impact of murder allegations made against him by dancehall star Shatta Wale, revealing how the claims affected his reputation and forced him to seek legal redress.
In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, Bullgod disclosed that he sued Shatta Wale for GH¢1 million for defamation, not because of the money but to clear his name.
“I sued him for GH¢1 million for defamation of character. For me, it wasn’t even about the money; it was about the fact that he should set things right,” he stated.
The controversy dates back to 2022, when Shatta Wale, in a social media outburst, accused Bullgod of knowing the murder of former artist manager Fennec Okyere, who was killed in 2014.
The claim sparked widespread discussions, with many questioning its validity and the legal implications.
Bullgod revealed that despite reaching an agreement for Shatta Wale to pay his legal fees and issue an apology, the dancehall star has not fulfilled his part of the deal.
“So we came to some sort of consent judgment that he would pay my lawyers and render an apology, but he hasn’t done that.
“But the matter has gone back to court for the judge to direct him to do the right thing,” he explained.
The allegations, he admitted, took a toll on his mental and professional life.
“It haunted me for some years. It followed me in my brain, but for now, I don’t think about it any longer. I saw it as a good sign from God.
“Sometimes we don’t understand the doings of God,” he shared.
However, Bullgod believes that the situation, though challenging, has worked in his favour in some ways.
“I am sure I am where I am today because the situation is a contributing factor. It might put fear into some people when they are dealing with me; others might not see it too well. It’s a win-win for me,” he noted.
