Vybz Kartel appeared on the Drink Champs podcast monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, where he shared his thoughts on his Grammy nomination and why he believes he should have won the prestigious award.

“Yeah, of course, I should have won the Grammy,” he said, expressing confidence in his music’s impact. He noted that many fans agreed with him, particularly in the comments where they voiced support for his claim.

“How many Grammys do you need? You’re the number one artist in Jamaica, in the world,” Kartel continued, pointing out the success of his music on platforms like iTunes, where his albums often sit at the top.

Kartel further emphasized the significance of his story. “My story is amazing—13 years out of prison, getting nominated for an album I did in prison, coming out and walking the red carpet.”

He acknowledged the political nature of the Grammy Awards but was clear that his journey was one of real triumph, saying, “That’s a success story.”

Despite not winning the Grammy, Kartel made it clear that he wasn’t bitter about the outcome. “No, hell no. That’s Bob Marley. And personally, I think he was the only person who could have beaten me.”
