Ghanaian actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about a deeply personal experience of heartbreak, offering a heartfelt message of hope to the youth.
Speaking on the Onua Showtime program, McBrown shared the pain of her first serious relationship and how it left her emotionally devastated, nearly driving her to despair.

Recalling her younger years, McBrown revealed the high hopes she had for her relationship with a handsome young man she believed was “the one.”
She imagined a future filled with happiness, picturing a life together in his beautiful home and enjoying the comforts of their shared success. She even had the approval of his mother, which seemed to confirm her dreams of a perfect union.
However, despite the outward perfection, she began to sense subtle signs that their relationship might not last.
“My grandmother even advised me not to date him, but I didn’t listen,” she confessed, reflecting on her decision to ignore her elder’s wisdom. When the relationship ultimately ended, the heartbreak was overwhelming.
“When he broke my heart, it felt like my life was over. It was like I was on fire, and everything came crashing down. I was in a very dark place.”
McBrown shared a vivid and raw memory of this period in her life, recounting a moment of despair that she will never forget.
“One day, my grandmother asked me to run an errand for her at Kwadaso Market. Can you imagine, I left the house in my pajamas and didn’t even notice. I was so lost in my emotions; I nearly went mad,” she said, painting a poignant picture of her emotional state.

She stressed that if she had given in to the dark thoughts she had during that time, she wouldn’t be here today to tell her story.
Her message was clear and heartfelt: “If I had taken my life, I wouldn’t be standing here today telling you my story. So, to my young ones out there, I urge you not to make any drastic decisions if you go through something like this.”
