A new controversy has erupted in the Ghanaian political landscape following the emergence of a video in which a radio presenter passionately discusses the recent disqualification of Phillip Appiah Kubi, better known as Roman Fada, from the 2024 Presidential Election.
Roman Fada, who represents the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), was reportedly disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) on grounds of “errors and illegalities” in his application.
But this presenter has come forward with claims that these grounds are unfounded and potentially motivated by political manoeuvring.

In the video, the radio presenter insists that Roman Fada’s disqualification isn’t due to procedural flaws, but rather to a strategic move to eliminate him as a candidate.
“The EC’s reasons don’t add up,” he argues. “They claim errors and illegalities, but where’s the evidence? It seems like a clear attempt to sideline the smaller parties to benefit the big players.”
The presenter further reveals a sensational backstory involving prominent political figures, hinting at attempts to buy out Roman Fada’s candidacy.
According to him, two politicians, Dzataba and Akpaloo, allegedly approached Roman Fada with an offer of GHC500,000.
The offer said to have come from NPP’s Chairman Wontumi, was intended to persuade Roman Fada to step aside and endorse Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s candidate.
However, according to the presenter, Roman Fada rejected the money, standing firm on the principles established by the late Akua Donkor, founder of the GFP.

“Roman Fada didn’t come into politics to sell his soul,” the presenter remarks in the video. “He believes in the legacy Madam Akua Donkor entrusted to him, and no amount of money is enough for him to betray that mission.”
Adding fuel to the fire, the presenter claims he has evidence to back his story. “I wouldn’t lie about this,” he asserts.
“If this goes to court, I can’t afford to make false statements. I have the recordings to prove that these offers were made.”
Roman Fada himself has yet to publicly respond to the allegations surrounding his disqualification, but his supporters insist that he is undeterred.
