Kuami Eugene, known for chart-topping hits like “Angela” and “Wish Me Well,” explained his creative process, noting that his music is born from a melting pot of influences, as is common in the industry.
“Every artist takes influences from different places,” he said, highlighting the collaborative and interconnected nature of music. His approach, he emphasized, is about integrating these inspirations with his distinct sound, creating something that feels fresh yet familiar to listeners. “There’s nothing wrong with taking a line or two and modifying it to fit my style.”
According to the “Rockstar,” this is part of the artistry in music-making, a sentiment that many in the industry echo.
However, Kuami Eugene expressed frustration that his process often seems to be scrutinized more harshly than his peers. “I feel like many artists can get away with it, but for me, every time I release a hit that includes a line reminiscent of another artist’s work, I’m criticized.”
Despite this, Kuami Eugene continues to assert his originality, noting that the hard work he puts into his craft is often overlooked in favour of these criticisms.
