Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei, known for his unwavering support of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has found himself in the middle of a storm after a controversial social media post targeted President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The post, which labeled Mahama a “drunkard,” has ignited a fierce backlash, and now the actor is scrambling to explain himself, claiming he didn’t write the comment.
In a candid conversation with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Prince shared his side of the story. He explained that the whole drama began after he publicly congratulated Mahama on his electoral victory, despite his allegiance to the NPP.
“I posted a message congratulating him and also shared my dream of running for president one day. I thought it was a classy move, but people didn’t take it well. They came for me, calling me a hypocrite,” Prince revealed.

The intense trolling soon became too much to handle, pushing the actor to step away from his phone. “I decided to take a break,” he said. “I logged off and left my phone behind, thinking things would cool down.”
However, during his hiatus, things took a turn. “My cousins, who were also upset by the backlash, picked up my phone in frustration. That’s when the post about Mahama being a drunkard went up. It wasn’t me. I swear.”
As the actor navigates the growing fallout, he is adamant about one thing: he did not intend to disrespect Mahama. “I regret that it happened.
“It was never my intention to post such a thing,” Prince asserted, trying to distance himself from the comment. “The whole situation got out of hand.”
Despite his explanation, many social media users remain unconvinced. Critics have questioned how the actor could completely distance himself from a post that has gone viral, with some accusing him of hypocrisy.
