Kumasi-born rapper Kawabanga, real name Adu Sarfo Patrick, has revealed details about his past relationship with songstress Gyakie, sharing personal insights into what led to their breakup.
In an appearance on DJ Slim’s Loud Lounge podcast, the rapper confirmed that he and Gyakie had dated during their high school years. However, the relationship ended after Kawabanga admitted to being unfaithful.
Reflecting on the breakup, Kawabanga stated, “Yeah, I dated Gyakie back in high school, but I messed up. I cheated on her, and that’s why things ended.”
In the yet-to-be-released portion of the interview, Kawabanga also addressed his association with the Asakaa Boys, a prominent music group he was part of before their fallout.

He hinted that internal disagreements and other issues within the group contributed to his decision to distance himself. While he refrained from giving specifics, Kawabanga acknowledged the challenges that come with navigating a collective of creatives.
Kawabanga, who is known for his hit single “Akatafoc,” is a prominent figure in Ghana’s thriving drill scene. The 24-year-old artist hails from Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, and has been a significant force within the Asakaa Boys, a group of nine talented musicians.
The collective includes O’Kenneth, Jay Bahd, Cedi City Boy, Reggie, Kwaku DMC, Sean Lifer, Rabby Jones, and Braa Benk, all of whom have made waves in the local and international music scenes with their unique take on Ghanaian hip-hop and drill.
While his association with the Asakaa Boys helped catapult him into the spotlight, Kawabanga’s decision to step away from the group seems to have been driven by personal and professional factors.
“I’ve got nothing but love for the boys, but sometimes things just don’t work out the way you expect,” he hinted during the interview, offering a glimpse into the dynamics that led to his breakaway.
