In a recent episode of the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa, Barry Sonnenfeld, the director behind the iconic film Men In Black, revealed a comical yet unforgettable incident involving actor Will Smith.

The story, which has everyone chuckling, took place during the filming of the beloved sci-fi comedy in 1997 when a single fart from Smith led to an unexpected three-hour evacuation of the entire film crew.

Sonnenfeld recounted the amusing scenario when Smith and his co-star Tommy Lee Jones found themselves sealed inside a transforming car pod, designed to create a hermetically sealed environment for filming.

As the cameras were about to roll, Sonnenfeld heard Smith apologize, saying, “Oh Jesus, so sorry. Tommy, so sorry. Baz, get the ladder.” Jones, seemingly unbothered, reassured Smith,

“That’s fine, Will. No worries, Will. Don’t worry, Will.” However, it quickly became apparent that the situation was more serious than they anticipated.

As Sonnenfeld described, they rushed to get a ladder for Jones to exit the pod, only to realize that Smith’s gaseous emission was too potent for anyone to endure in such a confined space.

“Will Smith is a farter,” Sonnenfeld humorously declared, capturing the discomfort and laughter shared among the crew members at the unexpected turn of events.

He further emphasized, “You really don’t want to be inside a very small hermetically sealed space with a Will Smith fart. You don’t even want to be sitting next to him at the Disney ranch.”

Despite the olfactory incident that could have derailed the day’s filming, Men In Black went on to achieve remarkable success.

The organization is tasked with monitoring and regulating extraterrestrial activity on Earth, ensuring that aliens coexist peacefully with humans while keeping their existence a secret.
