The hip-hop world came together in Queens, New York, to pay their final respects to Irv Gotti, the co-founder of Murder Inc. Records, whose influence shaped the careers of some of the biggest names in music.
The funeral, held at Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral, was an emotional gathering, with Ja Rule, Jay-Z, Ashanti, and other industry heavyweights in attendance.
Ja Rule, a longtime friend and collaborator, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, his voice breaking with emotion. “Irv, I love you. Everyone in this room loves you. You touched everybody in your own ways,” he said, struggling to hold back tears.

Jay-Z, seated in the front row, remained solemn throughout the service, reflecting the deep respect he had for Gotti.
Ashanti, whose career flourished under Gotti’s mentorship, was visibly emotional, as memories of their work together filled the room.

Fat Joe, members of the Ruff Ryders, and other hip-hop figures also attended, their presence a testament to the legacy Gotti built.
The ceremony featured a moving tribute to Gotti’s career, with displays of iconic photographs and a striking rose arrangement spelling out “The Inc Records.”
After the service, a funeral procession passed through his childhood neighborhood, stopping at landmarks that had played a significant role in his life, from his childhood home to the park where he once honed his DJ skills.
While the music industry mourned Gotti’s passing, not everyone had kind words. His longtime rival, 50 Cent, kept their feud alive with pointed remarks even after his death, sparking controversy among fans and fellow artists.
