He Won’t Shake My Hand – Papa Kumasi Talks About Rift with Agya Koo

Actor Papa Kumasi has opened up about his long-standing strained relationship with fellow actor Agya Koo, offering insight into a feud that has impacted both their personal interactions and the wider Ghanaian movie industry.

According to Papa Kumasi, their tension has led to awkward moments on set, with Agya Koo actively avoiding interaction, even refusing to acknowledge greetings.

“When I greet Agya Koo, he won’t respond. If I greet him with a handshake, he will pull his hand away,” Papa Kumasi shared, visibly affected by the ongoing discord.

He attributed the friction to his close affiliation with actor Kwaku Manu, suggesting that his association with Kwaku has not sat well with Agya Koo. “Our problems emanated from the fact that I belong to Kwaku Manu’s camp,” he explained.

The rivalry between Agya Koo and Kwaku Manu has been well-documented in the past. The two are often seen as competitors in the Kumawood movie industry.

However, Papa Kumasi’s revelation adds a new layer to the situation, indicating that the conflict may have extended to others, affecting their ability to work together on film projects.

“He will not shoot scenes of movies if Kwaku Manu is featured,” Papa Kumasi claimed, pointing to the detrimental effect this has had on collaborative efforts in the industry.

“These things can be blamed for the failure of the industry,” he lamented, suggesting that personal grudges among key figures may have contributed to the decline of Kumawood.

Despite the tension, Papa Kumasi’s tone remained one of reflection rather than bitterness. He expressed hope for a resolution, stating, “I believe in unity, and it would be great if we could all come together again for the sake of the industry.”
