During an interview on Onua FM, Kwaku Manu revealed that he advised his close friend Lilwin against attending the premiere of his movie, A Country Called Ghana, in Kumasi after his ghastly accident.
Despite his warning, Lilwin went ahead with the premiere and ended up in the hospital for several days following the tragic accident that resulted in the death of a three-year-old child named Nana Yaw.
Kwaku Manu acknowledged Lilwin’s dedication to his work and did not blame him for his decision.
“Kwadwo Nkansah should not have attended that premiere. I remember telling him that he should not go but he thought he was okay and could go. I thought it wasn’t a brilliant idea to go because even though he thought he was fit, interactions with the fans could affect him.
But I know how Kwadwo is. He is passionate about what he does. He ignored an injury and went to Techiman to perform but sometimes, your passion for the work could lead to your death,” he told Onua FM.
The Kumawood actor and filmmaker was involved in a car accident in Amakom, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
Reports indicate that Lilwin and two others were travelling to an undisclosed radio station for an interview to promote his film, A Country Called Ghana when his Salon Benz car collided with another vehicle driven by a man who was with his son.
Lilwin and the other passengers suffered injuries and were promptly taken to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The accident occurred Saturday morning in front of the Grace Baptist Church at Amakom.
Unfortunately, the accident resulted in the death of the three-year-old boy travelling with his father.
