He Believed It Would Be a Foolish Case: Inside the Arrest of Pastor Love Hammond

Lawyer Ralph Agyapong, brother of Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, has provided insights into the controversial case involving Pastor Love Hammond who has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for car theft in a startling revelation during an interview on Peace FM.

Agyapong discussed the intricacies of the case, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding Pastor Love’s arrest and the ongoing legal battle that has captivated public attention.

Additionally, Agyapong noted that the judge displayed leniency, given Pastor Love’s status as a “man of God.” This sentiment has sparked discussions about whether the pastor will indeed serve the full sentence or if further leniency may be granted.

The arrest of Pastor Love came about after Agyapong received a tip regarding his appearance on a Peace FM show. Suspecting that Pastor Love might evade justice, he promptly informed the police, who set up an ambush and successfully apprehended him.

Agyapong described the volatile relationship between Pastor Love and Sammy, the complainant’s brother, detailing how Pastor Love would often insult him whenever he called. This ongoing conflict heightened tensions, leading to the decision to notify law enforcement.

Agyapong further recounted Pastor Love’s dismissive attitude toward the case, stating that the pastor believed it would eventually turn into a “foolish case.”

Allegedly, Pastor Love even expressed intentions to leave the country for Canada, reflecting his perceived confidence that the case would not hold water.

Agyapong’s statements highlight the frustrating ordeal faced by Sammy, who spent over a year dealing with the fallout from the case.

He struggled to obtain a statement from Pastor Love, as locating him proved to be a challenge, causing significant distress in Sammy’s life, including near financial ruin due to mortgage issues.

While the possibility of Pastor Love repaying the stolen amount has been raised, Agyapong emphasized that this would not erase the conviction.

The ultimate decision remains with the court, and questions linger about the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle—a Toyota Highlander that was central to the case.

According to Agyapong, Pastor Love had convinced Samuel Amankwah, his childhood friend, that he could facilitate the clearance of the vehicle through his sister, Margaret.

This connection allowed Pastor Love to leverage his relationship with Samuel’s family to manage the vehicle’s clearance.

Agyapong highlighted the absurdity of the situation, pointing out that Pastor Love claimed potential buyers for the car were only willing to offer GH¢48,000, despite the vehicle being purchased for $18,000.
