Ghanaian comedian Derrick Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has made headlines for his candid remarks on the financial pressures associated with political endorsements.
Speaking about his experience after receiving funds from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), DKB highlighted the unexpected challenges he faced.
“I’ve not even gotten closer to cash to forget anybody. I woke up the following morning, and half of the money NDC gave me was gone,” DKB revealed, shedding light on the immediate financial strain that came with the endorsement.

DKB’s remarks suggest that people in the public eye, particularly those aligned with political figures, often find themselves inundated with requests for financial assistance.
He mentioned that shortly after receiving his payment, numerous people began calling him with various demands. From individuals asking for money to someone needing help with childbirth expenses, the pressure was unrelenting.
“Politicians are suffering. Somebody’s wife is going to give birth, they are calling among other demands,” DKB remarked, emphasizing the weight of these expectations.
In a humorous yet poignant response to the overwhelming demands, DKB quipped, “I told them their challenge is premium so they should go to Sam George and others.”
