Ghanaian comedian DKB has taken to social media to express pride in his hometown, Asutsuare, in the Greater Accra Region, by sharing a video showcasing its pristine water bodies.
In the video, DKB couldn’t hide his pride, pointing out the clarity and cleanliness of the water in his hometown. “Just look at this. No pollution, no galamsey here.
This is what happens when a community values its environment,” he said, as he panned the camera over the clean river.
His video comes at a crucial time when public outcry against illegal mining has reached new heights. Across Ghana, especially in regions like the Western and Ashanti areas, galamsey has led to severe pollution, rendering water bodies undrinkable and unusable for farming.
These activities have left communities devastated, and nationwide protests have been staged to push for a crackdown on illegal miners.

Referring to the destructive impact of galamsey, DKB added a pointed message: “If you’re looking for a place to destroy, don’t even think about coming to Asutsuare. We protect our own here, and our rivers will stay clean.”
In recent weeks, protests in Accra have seen demonstrators demand stricter enforcement of laws against galamsey and more accountability from the government.
As galamsey continues to dominate the national discourse, DKB’s message is a timely reminder that communities can still take a stand.
“What’s happening in other parts of the country is tragic,” DKB noted, “but it doesn’t have to be the future. We can protect our water, our land, and our future. Let Asutsuare be an example.”
