Guru’s legal representatives have voiced their dissatisfaction regarding the artiste’s disqualification from the presidency of the Student Representative Council at the University of Legon.
The team informed Radio Universe of their intention to challenge the ruling made by the SRC Judiciary Board concerning his disqualification.
Andy Otchere Asante, who leads the campaign team, described the situation as a tactic to eliminate Guru from the race, emphasizing his determination to secure victory in the election.
He mentioned that they intend to appeal the decision, pointing out several previous cases where the grounds for Guru’s disqualification were not applied to other former candidates.
“Guru is fully qualified to contest in the UGSRC elections. He has the right to vote and to be voted for. Disqualifying him solely based on his non-residential status is unjustified.
There’s an incumbent executive who was non-resident when he contested last year, so what’s different now? This seems like a deliberate move against Guru. We have handed it over to our legal team to explore legal action,” he said.
He added that the disqualification hasn’t hurt their campaign as they are focused on the election.
“The disqualification hasn’t affected us, and we’re not surprised either. We knew they started scheming against him long before he even filed to contest. This is just the culmination of their plan,” he remarked.
