In a historic meeting to mark the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day, the world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the shortest woman, Jyoti Amge, came together for the first time.
The meeting took place at London’s iconic Savoy Hotel, where 27-year-old Turkish web developer Rumeysa Gelgi and 30-year-old Indian actress Jyoti Amge enjoyed an afternoon tea.
Despite their striking height difference, the two shared laughter and found unexpected commonalities.

“It was amazing meeting Jyoti for the first time,” Ms. Gelgi said. “At times, it was tricky for us to make eye contact, but it was a wonderful experience. We discovered we both love make-up, self-care, and doing our nails.”
Ms. Gelgi, who stands at an incredible 215.16 cm (7 ft 1 in), holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest woman alive.

She was diagnosed with a rare condition called Weaver syndrome, which accelerates growth and causes skeletal abnormalities.
Her case is the first of its kind in Turkey and only the 27th reported globally. Due to her condition, she relies on a wheelchair and uses a walker to stand for brief periods.
Ms. Amge, the shortest woman at just 62.8 cm (2 ft 1 in), is best known for her role as Ma Petite in the popular TV series American Horror Story.
She has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism that affects bone growth.

“It’s not unusual for me to look up to see people taller than me,” Ms. Amge remarked.
“But today, looking up to the tallest woman in the world was a unique and joyful experience. Rumeysa is so kind-hearted, and I felt at ease talking with her.”
Both women have been celebrated as icons in the 70th-anniversary edition of the Guinness World Records book, with Ms. Amge achieving her title in 2011 and Ms Gelgi in 2021.
