Gospel musician Empress Gifty is beaming with pride and joy as she celebrates the National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory in the 2024 general elections.
Her exuberance is not just about the party’s win but also a deeply personal triumph for her husband, who has endured a stormy political journey.
In a heartfelt speech that captured the raw emotions of their journey, Empress Gifty did not hold back. Gesturing toward her husband’s portrait, she declared, “This is what we call ‘back to sender!’ What was meant for evil, God has turned for our good.”
She reflected on the hardships her husband, a former Deputy National Security Coordinator under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, faced after being ousted from his role due to his allegiance to Alan Kyerematen. The move, coupled with internal party politics, left them isolated and vilified.

“They labeled me a bad luck charm, they called me a witch,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. “People far beneath my husband would hurl insults at him. Though it devastated him, I was there to console him.”
She revealed how false rumours of infidelity were weaponized against her husband, with orchestrated attempts to tarnish his reputation.
Despite the personal attacks, she maintained, “He is a fighter! He worked tirelessly for the people, but they were ungrateful.
They spread lies about him, saying he had affairs with women he hadn’t even met. They plotted and schemed to destroy him.”
Empress Gifty’s tribute to her husband turned into a powerful affirmation of his resilience and her unwavering support. With tears in her eyes, she prayed aloud for him, calling him her “last killer” and “great king.”
Her words echoed the sentiment that their relationship was a partnership in every sense: “They say behind every successful man, there’s a woman, but in my case, behind every successful woman, there’s a man—a great king.”
