Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, a Chief State Attorney at the Office of the Attorney-General, has been slapped with disbarment by the General Legal Council (GLC) for accepting GH¢400,000 from businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome in 2011.
The disciplinary action was taken after the GLC’s Disciplinary Committee found Nerquaye-Tetteh guilty of professional misconduct under Rule 2(2) of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969 (L.I. 613).

In a notice dated January 31, 2024, the GLC stated that while representing the state in a lawsuit by Woyome in 2011, Nerquaye-Tetteh facilitated the direct transfer of GH¢400,000 from Woyome to his wife’s bank account without providing a reasonable explanation.
The GLC expressed concern that Nerquaye-Tetteh’s actions had tarnished the dignity and reputation of the legal profession.
The notice, signed by Judicial Secretary Justice Cynthia Pamela Koranteng, declared that Nerquaye-Tetteh is prohibited from practicing law and offering legal services to the public. His practicing license has been withdrawn immediately.

“SAMUEL NERQUAYE-TETTEH shall not hold himself out as a lawyer or attend chambers or render or purport to render any professional legal services to the public. The practicing licence of Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh is hereby withdrawn forthwith,” the notice said.
