3News reports that 22 persons have been confirmed dead in a gory accident that occurred between Kintampo and Babatokuma.

There have been 17 males, 1 child, and 4 women killed. 52 people were on board the Yendi-Kumasi bound bus AS 4635-22 when it collided side by side with a trailer truck GW 1127 P hauling tiles.

Although the exact circumstances are hazy, it appears the truck driver attempted to swerve a stopped truck and in the process crossed into the opposing lane, coming dangerously close to colliding with the bus.

While the remaining victims are being treated at the Kintampo Hospital, the deceased are now being placed in the morgue at the Kintampo Government Hospital.

This is on the heels of another unfortunate incident that occurred days ago when a police dispatcher named Rauf Iddrisu reportedly died after a head-on collision on the Accra-Kumasi expressway on March 3, 2023, according to a Graphic Online report.

According to the officials, the collision occurred at Osino in the Eastern Region between his Honda motorcycle and the Kia Grandbird VIP bus. Rauf Iddrisu, also known as Mando to his close pals, was escorting a convoy from Accra to Kumasi at the time of the accident.

“On 3/03/2023 at about 3:30 pm, suspect driver Samuel Boateng age 44 years was in charge Kia Grandbird VIP bus with registration number GW 9944-10 with Passengers on board from Kumasi towards Accra.

“On reaching a section of the road close to the Osino Police station on the Accra-Kumasi highway, he failed to observe traffic ahead.

In the process, crashed head-on with No. 49200 Rauf Iddrisu from Headquarters transport who was riding Honda motorcycle No. GP 4710 leading a convoy from Accra towards Kumasi direction,” a police situational report (SITREP) stated.
