In today’s digital age, social media has become a platform where ordinary individuals can gain fame overnight.
For some Ghanaians, a single viral moment transformed their lives, catapulting them into the limelight. From hilarious catchphrases to jaw-dropping personalities, these five Ghanaians used social media to make their mark on the world.
Let’s dive into the stories of Mr. Eventuarry, Shatta Bandle, Mmebusem, Rashida Black Beauty, and Ahuofe—icons who became internet sensations.
1. Mr. Eventuarry
Kofi Asare, affectionately known as Mr. Eventuarry, is one of Ghana’s most notable social media sensations. A Takoradi-based taxi driver, he became an internet icon in 2019 after videos of him laughing hilariously and saying the phrase “Eventuarry” went viral. His unique style of laughter and comedic responses to situations endeared him to Ghanaians and netizens across the globe. What started as a playful habit became his signature, turning him into a social media star who later appeared on mainstream platforms, including TV shows and comedy events across Africa.
2. Shatta Bandle
Shatta Bandle, born Firdaus Idrissu, took the internet by storm with his bold claims of being wealthier than Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote. Standing at a diminutive height, Shatta Bandle’s audacious bragging about his wealth, coupled with his humorous antics, made him an instant sensation. Videos of him flaunting money, luxury cars, and his flashy lifestyle became a constant source of entertainment, drawing millions of views on Instagram. Shatta Bandle’s unique personality even caught the attention of Nigerian artists like Rudeboy (formerly of P-Square), who featured him in the music video for the hit song “Audio Money.”
3. Mmebusem
When Mmebusem, whose real name is Justice Hymns, began posting satirical videos portraying himself as “Ghana Jesus,” he never expected the overwhelming response from the public. With his robes, beard, and Bible, Mmebusem’s hilarious portrayal of Jesus Christ, speaking in Twi, won him both fans and critics. His skits, which tackled various social and religious issues in a comedic way, quickly went viral. Despite facing backlash from some religious groups, Mmebusem’s unapologetic humor made him a household name, and he became one of the most talked-about personalities on social media.
4. Rashida Black Beauty

Rashida Black Beauty, born Rashida Mohammed, rose to fame in 2016 after a video of her expressing anger towards an ex-boyfriend went viral. In the video, she coined the famous term “Malafaka,” which quickly became a trending phrase. Her unfiltered way of speaking and unapologetic attitude resonated with many young people, and she was even awarded a Viral Video of the Year accolade at the Ghana Movie Awards. Although she faced controversies later, Rashida’s rise to fame highlights the unpredictable nature of social media virality in Ghana.
5. Ahuofe
Ahuofe, widely known as Ahuofe 2Pac, was a viral internet sensation from Ghana, whose popularity skyrocketed due to his striking resemblance to the late American rapper Tupac Shakur. Ahuofe gained fame on social media platforms, especially TikTok, where his comedic skits, signature style of wearing bandanas, and energetic performances quickly captured the attention of Ghanaians and global audiences. He embraced the “gangster” persona, mixing humor with his portrayal of Tupac-inspired looks and mannerisms.
He became a beloved figure in Ghanaian social media culture, amassing thousands of followers with his unique brand of comedy. Sadly, Ahuofe passed away in March 2023, which led to an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow influencers. Despite his untimely death, Ahuofe 2Pac left a lasting legacy as a beloved internet sensation.
