Ghanaians have responded in different ways to Afua Asantewaa’s disqualification from the Guinness World Record following the highly publicized singing marathon.
Some individuals have expressed sympathy and encouraged her to reflect on the significant achievements she has made since participating in the event. In contrast, others have taken the opportunity to mock her.
The first cluster of people advised Afua Asantewaa to try the singing marathon again this December if she truly desired to claim the title of the individual with the longest singing marathon.
Sharing the unfortunate news of Afua’s disqualification, Tru News Report, your most reliable online news portal, mentioned that The Guinness World Records mentioned on their official page on Twitter on Friday, February 23, 2024, saying they have rejected her attempt after reviewing evidence of the 126 hours and 52 minutes of sing-a-thon.
“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts,” the response by GWR said.

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum sang from December 24 to December 28, 2023, and has since become a popular figure in entertainment in Ghana. While awaiting a response from Guinness, she embarked on various media engagements, sharing her experience during the sing-a-thon.
