Ghana Police Cautions Against Doom Prophecies On 31st Night, Declares Dec. 27th As ‘Prophecy Communication Compliance Day’

Ahead of the usual 31st December Watch Night church services to welcome the new year, the Ghana Police Service has once again cautioned against doom prophecies that cause fear and panic.

Several prophets and pastors whose churches hold these services to climax the year, usually make a lot of prophetic declarations particularly in the life of prominent individuals and about the country.

In some cases, known ministers of the gospel have predicted the death of some public figures. This practice that has been condemned by members of the public including the Ghana Police Service.

In statement issued on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the Service commended religious groups for complying with its directives last year.

The Service said while it is not against people’s expression of their faith as enshrined in the constitution, they must not infringe on people’s rights and threaten public peace.

“Let us continue to remember that whereas we have the right to practice our faith in religion, freedom of worship and speech, this right must not be exercised in violation of the rights of others and the public interest” the statement noted.

The Service said as part of sustaining the gains made in compliance to this directive, it has adopted 27th December of each year as ‘Prophecy Communication Compliance Day’.

“This day is being set aside to remind all of us to practice our faith within the confines of the law to ensure a safe, secure environment, free of anxiety generated from predictions of impending harm, danger or death.”
