A huge sum of money was allegedly discovered at the residence of the Chief of Staff of the overthrown president, Ali Bongo, hours after the coup announcement was made on August 30, 2023.

In a segment shown on Gabon24, the national television, the person in question, Ian Ngoulou, admitted to the crime of storing large sums of money. He was also shown with Noureddin Valentin, the 31-year-old son of the Bongo.

The station’s broadcast shows the two suspects, who were arrested hours after the coup announcement, standing next to the uncovered cash gathering outside of Ngoulou’s home in the capital city. When questioned about where such a large sum of money came from, he responded that he needed it for business purposes but that he did not know the exact amount.

There are almost a dozen large suitcases that are ripped open in the 23-second clip, and each is filled to the brim with bundles of cash. According to what the reporter saw, the bundles were sent out from either the central bank or a holding facility, and they were still sealed in their polythene wrapper.

Military officers in Gabon seized power in the central African nation, as previously reported by Tru News Report. They claimed that the weekend elections were fraudulent, justifying their takeover of the government. They canceled the elections results, shut down all government organisations, and closed the country’s borders.
