Veteran television and radio figure Jon Germain has expressed heartfelt admiration for the legendary Tommy Annan-Forson, crediting him with transforming his career from that of a librarian to a radio icon.
During an appearance on 3FM, the charismatic Jon Germain shared that his radio journey began at Choice FM, where Tommy took a bold step to elevate him from the library to the airwaves, despite facing resistance from some management who doubted the suitability of a librarian hosting a show.
According to Jon Germain, the opposers said, ‘There are other presenters who have been doing this for a while and if you want to add another show to the station’s programmes, you can always give it to another person but then you want to pick the guy in the library to host the show’.
“People didn’t like that but Tommy said, ‘Listen, he’s going to do it and he can do it’,” Germain, nicknamed The Supremo, narrated.
“And months after, I was hosting the drive-time show and I got to host the midmorning show on Choice as well, and a few years after, I was on Metro TV.”
Germain’s most recent radio appearance was on Starr FM. In 2020, after nearly six years, he bid farewell to The Zone midmorning programme.
He is now the host of the I Am Jon Germain (IAJG) TV show, which is broadcast on MX 24 TV, Channel 247, Air TV Nigeria, SKY TV UK C7 181, and YouTube, where he conducts interviews with top figures in the entertainment industry.
