Freemasonry Is Not an Antichrist Society – Afenyo-Markin defends himself again

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has set the record straight on his affiliation with Freemasonry, dismissing claims that the fraternity is anti-Christian or occultic. In an interview with JoyNews, he expressed concern over the widespread misconceptions surrounding the organization.

“I think many people have a misconception about Freemasonry. Hear me on this and quote me any day—Freemasonry is not an occultic society.

It is not a secret society. It is not an antichrist organization,” Afenyo-Markin stated firmly.

The lawmaker, who openly declared his Masonic ties last week, emphasized that the fraternity promotes moral values rather than engaging in sinister practices.

He addressed the conspiracy theories often associated with Freemasonry, arguing that such narratives are misleading.

“Those things you see on TV—rituals involving blood, mysterious practices—that’s not Freemasonry,” he stressed. “In fact, at the Perfection stage of Masonry, you must profess Christ.”

According to him, Freemasonry shares core similarities with other Christian fraternal groups such as the Knights of St. John. He believes that if religious leaders engage in dialogue, they will understand that the fraternity is not at odds with Christianity.

“If my Bishops sit with me, they will realize there is no difference between Freemasonry and these other fraternal societies. These are organizations that teach values and how we should live our lives.”

Afenyo-Markin further presented a book titled Rose Croix, which he described as evidence of the fraternity’s Christian foundations.

“Everything in this book is about Christ. If you have time, I can read something to you. But if not, I will leave it with you because I want you to have a full understanding of what we stand for.”
