Gospel musician and evangelist Diana Asamoah has addressed the controversy surrounding election predictions in Ghana, particularly challenging the prophecy of Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, who has predicted victory for John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections.
Asamoah’s remarks were bold, rooted in biblical references, and reflective of the country’s ongoing political and religious discourse.
Referencing 2 Kings 20:1-7, Asamoah drew a parallel between the story of King Hezekiah and the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, including President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Minister of Energy Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).

The scripture recounts how the prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah he would soon die, but Hezekiah’s earnest plea to God for more time resulted in the Lord granting him 15 more years of life.
For Asamoah, this biblical story represents a divine opportunity for change, resilience, and reversal of fate based on faithfulness and good deeds.
She extended this analogy to Ghana’s political scene, asserting that any negative predictions about the NPP’s chances in the 2024 elections—such as those made by Rev. Owusu Bempah—will not come to pass.
“2 Kings 2:1-7 tells us about how Isaiah prophesied to Hezekiah that he would die. Hezekiah cried out to the Lord to reverse it based on his service to God, and it was reversed; the Lord added 15 more years to his life.
“So the NPP government, including Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and NAPO, will not accept defeat based on our good works like the Free SHS. Any doom prophecy against us will not stand; we will win the 2024 general elections,” she declared in a video making rounds online.
Diana emphasized that the NPP’s good works, notably its flagship Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, which has expanded access to education for Ghanaian youth, will serve as a testament to its service and leadership. This, in her view, positions the NPP for success in the elections.
