Former Nigerian Government Official Passes Away While Watching Super Eagles vs South Africa Match

Cairo Ojougboh, a notable figure in Nigerian politics and a former Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has died.

According to SaharaReporters, Ojougboh died while watching the intense football match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ojuogboh, who also served as a House Of Representatives member, representing Ika Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007, reportedly collapsed during the penalty shootout between the two teams. Despite efforts to revive him, he did not survive.

In addition to his political career, Ojuogboh was deeply involved in the development sector, having served as the immediate past Director of Projects on the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Born on September 8, 1959, in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, the 60-year-old was also a respected medical doctor.

He was an active member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and had previously aspired for the governorship position in the state.
