Kumawood actor Abraham Kofi Davis, known in the industry as Salinko, stirred conversations about the state of Ghana’s creative arts sector in an interview on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama Mcbrown.
With years of experience in the film industry, Salinko didn’t mince words when calling out the current leadership within the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
“I know that by the end of John Mahama’s four years, we will still come back here and have the same conversation,” Salinko stated, adding that creatives have yet to see tangible changes under the leadership of Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
He continued, “If we want someone to do something for us in the creative arts industry, then we should focus on Mahama because Dzifa will only head the ministry.

“When Mark Okraku Mantey was the Deputy Minister, what did he do for the creative arts industry? I checked and he did nothing for us.”
Salinko, who has been at the forefront of Kumawood’s rise, emphasized the frustration of many in the industry who feel their contributions aren’t adequately supported by the government.
He also highlighted the need for a change in approach, arguing that if real progress is to be made, the focus should shift to private sector involvement rather than bureaucratic leadership.
“I know John Dramani Mahama has the creative arts industry at heart, so I will call on him to give us private sector developers so we can work with them directly without necessarily having to go through Dzifa Gomashie or any other bureaucracy,” Salinko stated.
