Five Mistakes To Never Do After Finding Out Your Partner Has Been Unfaithful

The tricky part about being in a relationship is that you can only ever be sure of yourself and your own behaviour, not that of the other person.

You’ll feel a wide range of emotions, from rejection to betrayal, when you learn that your partner has been cheating on you, whether they confess to you or you find out on your own. What you should never do is listed below.

1. Crying and pleading with them to stay with you

If you do this, you devalue yourself in their eyes. You can cry alone or with your friends, but pleading with them directly or in lengthy text messages is inappropriate. They’ve already made up their minds, especially if they’ve been the ones to initiate the breakup. Do what you need to do to get over your loss and move on.

2. Following the person they cheated on and asking them to leave their partner for you

Don’t get sucked in and start investigating, stalking, or confronting the offender in an effort to get them to leave your partner. If your partner has already chosen them over you, you should probably ask them to stop cheating. If you’re so great, why do you have to beg them to dump their partner for you? They owe you nothing, so stop worrying about them and start focusing on the person who cares about you.

3. Destroy their property

Do not act like an animal by destroying their electronics, vehicle, or household items. You may not care about their opinion of you, but what about your own respect? To top it all, you might even end up in jail. Don’t act like a violent thug.

4. Question them about why they did it.

You are inviting manipulation upon yourself. They made a decision that had absolutely nothing to do with you, and you don’t need to understand why they cheated. They had the opportunity to discuss their concerns about the relationship with you, but instead they chose to cheat.

5. Reciprocate the cheating

No one should cheat back on their partner if they discover their partner is cheating or has cheated on them. Open relationships don’t usually work out. You must decide whether or not to forgive them. Let them go if you can’t bring yourself to forgive them.
