Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable has spoken about his musical journey and why he believes he’s yet to win a Grammy, despite his undeniable talent.
During an interview, Portable made it clear that his rise to fame was not by the hands of the industry’s usual power brokers. “Olamide picked me and I came out from nowhere, nobody raised me, God is my pioneer,” he revealed.
“For many, this statement paints a picture of someone who carved their own path to success, largely without the typical industry support.
“While others might have benefitted from mentorship or connections, Portable’s breakthrough came on his own terms, and he holds that story close.

Yet, despite his success, the Grammy award—one of the highest achievements for any musician—still eludes him.
Portable didn’t hold back in addressing the issue, attributing his lack of a Grammy to what he sees as neglect from the music industry.
“I’m telling you, if not that you neglected me, I would have won a Grammy,” he claimed. His frustration was evident as he further challenged the industry with a daring proposal.
“Feature me if you want to collect Grammy, drop verse for me, and I get chorus. Ordinary woman collected the Grammy from you people.”
