Chicago rapper Lil Durk was reportedly just hours away from an international escape attempt when he was arrested on federal charges of murder for hire.
Murder for hire is a crime in which an individual is accused of hiring someone else to carry out a murder on their behalf, typically in exchange for money or another form of compensation.

Federal prosecutors allege that Durk arranged for the targeted killing of a rival as part of a retaliatory plot, linking him to a larger criminal conspiracy.
Now held at Miami’s Federal Detention Center, Durk was apprehended amid a sweeping FBI operation targeting his Only the Family (OTF) crew.
Corcoran’s affidavit details an orchestrated series of raids on October 24 in Chicago, where five alleged OTF members were taken into custody while authorities executed multiple search warrants.
As federal agents detained these individuals, U.S. Customs and Border Protection flagged Durk’s booking on two international flights: one from Miami to Dubai via Doha and another from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland via New Jersey, both set to depart that evening.
Corcoran noted that the United Arab Emirates does not hold an extradition agreement with the United States, hinting at Durk’s possible intent to evade arrest.
Durk, however, didn’t board either flight. A later CBP notification revealed he had secured a third booking—a private flight to Italy—scheduled to depart at 9 p.m. ET. FBI agents intercepted him near the airport around 8 p.m. ET, halting what might have been a high-profile escape.
The case against Durk and his associates stems from an alleged retaliatory plot tied to the 2022 murder of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, cousin of rival rapper Quando Rondo.

Federal prosecutors have charged Durk and five OTF affiliates with murder for hire and conspiracy to commit murder, reportedly in response to the killing of King Von.
The investigation remains ongoing, as authorities piece together evidence of a complex web of criminal activities surrounding the Chicago-based rap collective.
