Fatman Scoop pronounced dead after collapsing on stage during performance

Rapper Fatman Scoop has been reported dead at the age of 53 on Friday night after collapsing during his performance at a free event in Connecticut, as reported by CT Insider.

The artist, born Isaac Freeman III in New York, was on stage at the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden when he encountered a “medical emergency.”

Footage shared on social media captured the shirtless Scoop engaging the crowd at Town Center Park before he suddenly fell and was no longer visible to the audience.

Various news outlets obtained videos showing individuals performing chest compressions behind the DJ booth.

Although his performance was slated to start at 7:15 pm, emergency services were called to the park at 8:33 pm, according to TMZ.

He was subsequently transported to a local hospital after being carried off the stage on a stretcher. Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed that Scoop was taken to the hospital following the medical incident.

“Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers,” Garrett wrote on Facebook.

The rapper was supposed to perform at the event in July, but bad weather prompted the August rain date.

Fatman Scoop was an American rapper, hype man, and radio personality. Noted for his booming, raw vocal presence on various hip hop songs, he was best known for his guest performances on the 2005 singles “Lose Control” by Missy Elliott and “It’s Like That” by Mariah Carey and for his 1999 sleeper hit single, “Be Faithful” (featuring the Crooklyn Clan), which topped the UK Singles Chart in 2003.
