Early Life and Education
KSM was born as the fifth of six siblings in Kumasi. He attended UST Primary School and later moved to Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) in Legon. He completed his secondary education at Prempeh College in Kumasi. After college, he received specialized training at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) in Accra before moving to the United States to further his studies. He earned a degree in Theatre Arts from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from New York University.
Career Beginnings

KSM launched his acting career with various off-Broadway and Public Theatre roles. He also appeared in the American crime series Law & Order and the drama series Medal of Honour Rag. He became the first African to stage an original Off-Broadway play with his one-man show Thoughts of a Confused Black Man, which addressed race in the United States.
Return to Ghana
In 1997, KSM returned to Ghana and began his career as a radio talk show host with Talk Shop, a show that introduced Ghana to broadcasting’s potential for generating controversy and dialogue. He later refined his style with the show Nyame Som Ye De, which encouraged Ghanaians to think beyond religion and define their broader spirituality.
Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF)
KSM created one of Ghana’s most popular talk shows, Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF), which combined serious talk, education, and humour. His combative and confrontational style shocked listeners into discussing relevant national issues. won the Radio and Television Personality Television Entertainment Show Host of the Year award in 2011 for his work on TGIF.
One-Man Comedic Plays
KSM has written, directed, and starred in a series of one-man comedic plays, including Saga of a Returnee, Afia Siriboe, and Politically Incorrect. His live performances use comical characters to illustrate key social, economic, and political issues in Ghana.
Personal Life

KSM is happily married to Mavis Ampah, a Senior ICT Policy Analyst at the World Bank office in Accra. They have four children: Nana Yaa, Nana Kwasi, Yaw, and Nana Ama2. KSM is known for his hobbies of writing, playing basketball with his children, bike riding, and watching movies.
