Ghanaian content creator Kwadwo Sheldon successfully extracted valuable insights from King Promise during their recent interview session.
The main focus of their conversation revolved around the Artist of the Year award that King Promise narrowly missed out on to Stonebwoy, making Stonebwoy the second artist after Kojo Antwi, VIP, and Sarkodie to win this prestigious award in the history of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
In response to his loss, King Promise expressed his belief that he truly deserved to win the award, considering it as the most significant recognition at the TGMAs.
Despite acknowledging that competitions do not always end in one’s favour, he maintained his stance on deserving the accolade.
Furthermore, King Promise said he extended his congratulations to Stonebwoy for his victory, emphasizing that the primary goal of the TGMAs is to honour Ghanaian music and recognize the dedication of all artists involved.
“I was hoping to win. I think it’s normal for anybody who has done amazingly well [to think so].
“I don’t have to say I deserved it for you to even know that I deserved it; because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be in the category.
“But also, it’s a competition. It could go your way or might go another way, which is fine. In the end, in my heart, and my fans’ hearts, everybody knew it was supposed to be us,” he said.
“As for me, it was a nice moment to celebrate Ghanaian music and do what I do beautifully.
“And when someone else wins, it doesn’t mean the world has to come to an end. And this is someone who also represents Ghanaian music to a certain level that I respect.
“So of course I was always going to congratulate him. I always congratulate everybody when they win,” he said.
