Emelia Brobbey’s 2013 UK Theft Case Resurfaces

Emelia Brobbey’s 2013 theft case in the UK has resurfaced, stirring fresh controversy and reopening old wounds.

After more than a decade, the incident is once again in the spotlight, as aggrieved individuals, particularly the family of her former friend Akua Agyeiwaa, accuse the actress of betrayal and mistreatment.

The story, which began as a routine trip abroad for Emelia to give birth, has taken a complicated turn, with emotions still raw 11 years later.

In 2013, Emelia travelled to the UK, flown by her partner to give birth. She stayed with her close friend, actress Akua Agyeiwaa, during her visit. However, things took a dramatic turn when Emelia allegedly stole a bracelet during a shopping trip.

As she went through the checkout, the store’s alarm went off, and she was arrested after the item was found hidden in a baby trolley she had purchased.

During her arrest, Emelia provided the police with her friend Akua’s address, leading to further trouble. When authorities searched the house, they discovered that Akua did not have the proper documentation to remain in the UK.

This led to Akua’s arrest, imprisonment, and eventual deportation to Ghana. The incident shattered Akua’s life, and even though it happened years ago, her family still harbors resentment towards Emelia.

In 2024, Akua’s family, still hurt by the ordeal, voiced their grievances on social media. They claim that Emelia abandoned Akua during the crisis and misused money meant for compensation.

According to Akua’s relatives, Emelia’s partner allegedly provided £3,500 to help Akua, but the family insists that Emelia kept the money and used it for her film projects instead. They further accuse Emelia of ignoring Akua during her stay in the UK and doing nothing to prevent her deportation.

Akua’s brother, a security personnel in the UK, has been particularly vocal, refuting recent claims from Emelia’s camp that she compensated Akua with an apartment and money.

He insisted that Emelia doesn’t even know where his sister lives in Ghana, and he alleged that Emelia admitted to stealing the bracelet during private conversations with the family. He claims to have recordings of Emelia confessing to the theft, saying she didn’t know what had come over her at the time.

Frustrated by Emelia’s public statements, Akua’s brother threatened to release audio recordings of her confession if those defending the actress continued to push a different narrative.

“I will release the audio where she begged the family and the police and admitted that she stole,” he said on social media, adding that Emelia should stop misleading the public about compensating Akua.

In response to the renewed allegations, Emelia Brobbey has turned to music as a way to defend herself. She released a diss track titled Nsem Keka, a song aimed at her critics.

Through this track, Emelia appears determined to stand her ground and confront those questioning her integrity. She also took to social media to post a message quoting a biblical verse: “Let the one free of all wrongs be the first to cast a stone.”

This statement suggests Emelia is challenging her detractors to reflect on their own actions before passing judgment.

The resurfacing of this case, after so many years, has sparked widespread debate and drawn attention back to a difficult chapter in Emelia’s life.

While she has continued to grow her career in the public eye, the lingering tensions with Akua’s family serve as a reminder of the personal fallout from that incident.

For Akua’s relatives, the pain and anger remain unresolved, and they seem determined to seek accountability for what they see as an injustice.
