Samuel Nyamekye, a close friend of Ghanaian actress Emelia Brobbey, has come forward to defend her against revived accusations surrounding a 2013 incident in London.
The allegations, which claim Emelia was involved in the theft of a bracelet, led to the wrongful arrest and deportation of her friend, Akua Agyeiwaa.

As the story has resurfaced in recent weeks, Nyamekye is setting the record straight, calling the rumours false and offering insight into what truly happened.
“Emelia wasn’t even living with Akua when she went to London. She lived with Gloria,” Nyamekye clarified, addressing one of the key details that has often been misreported.
According to him, Emelia stayed with a mutual friend named Gloria during her visit to the UK, not with Akua as many have assumed. Akua, who was also a close friend, would visit Emelia and Gloria after work, which is how she came into the picture when the incident occurred.
The crux of the situation stems from an accusation that Emelia stole a bracelet, which was reportedly found in a baby trolley. This accusation allegedly triggered a chain of events leading to the arrest of Akua Agyeiwaa.

When police arrived to investigate, they discovered that Akua did not have the proper documentation to remain in the UK, resulting in her arrest and subsequent deportation to Ghana.
However, Nyamekye emphasizes that Emelia had no involvement in the theft, stating that the situation “rubbed off” on her simply because of her friendship with Akua.
He strongly refutes the claims that Emelia was in any way responsible for the ordeal. “It’s because Emelia was friends with Akua, and that’s why the incident rubbed off on her,” he explained.
The incident has caused lasting pain for Akua’s family, who recently took to social media to express their frustrations. They feel betrayed by Emelia, alleging that she abandoned Akua during her time of need.
They claim that during Emelia’s arrest, she gave the authorities Akua’s address, which led to the police discovering her undocumented status. This, they argue, was the direct cause of Akua’s deportation, and they have expressed deep hurt over how the situation unfolded.

Despite these accusations, Samuel Nyamekye continues to stand by Emelia’s innocence. “All the rumours circulating about Emelia Brobbey aren’t true.
This issue was brought to my attention long before it went viral,” he stated, suggesting that this is not the first time Emelia has faced these allegations. Nyamekye, who has been aware of the situation for years, remains firm in his defense of the actress.
