Elon Musk To Undergo Surgery Before ‘Cage Match’ With Mark Zuckerberg

Elon Musk is considering going for surgery to put him in the right physical shape to face his seeming villain, Mark Zuckerberg, in their proposed ‘cage match.’

Although it’s unclear if a fight will actually take place, Musk and Zuckerberg have continued to stir up interest in the potential match by taking online shots at one another. Musk most recently stated on Sunday that the fight would be live-streamed on his social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

Musk added that the fight’s proceeds would go to a charity for veterans. On his Threads social media account, Zuckerberg responded: “Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?” In a follow-up post, the CEO of Facebook’s parent company, Meta said he wasn’t “holding his breath” for a fight.

“I’m ready today. I suggested August 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed,” wrote Zuckerberg, who is actually trained in mixed martial arts and posted about completing his first jiu-jitsu tournament earlier this year. “I love this sport and will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.”

Musk stated earlier on Sunday that he was weightlifting to prepare for the fight. Later, when asked about the timing of the fight, he said the time was “still in flux” because of an MRI appointment and the possibility of surgery.

“I’m getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow,” Musk wrote Sunday night. “May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week.”

Talk of an in-person fight all started in June, when Musk, who owns X, responded to a tweet about Meta preparing to release a new Twitter rival called Threads. He took a dig about the world becoming “exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options” — but then one Twitter user jokingly warned Musk of Zuckerberg’s jiu jitsu training.

“I’m up for a cage match if he is lol,” Musk wrote. After Zuckerberg appeared to agree to the proposal, Musk proposed the Vegas Octagon.

Tru News Report previously highlighted this rare showdown by mentioning that Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk have agreed to square off in a cage match that will pit the two billionaire CEOs of big tech businesses against each other.

On Wednesday, Musk issued a challenge to Meta’s founder to a “cage match” if he’s up for it in response to a commenter discussing the company’s intentions to create a Twitter competitor. In response to a screenshot of the tweet, Zuckerberg wrote in a story on Instagram, which is owned by Meta, “Send me location.”

Musk, Twitter’s executive chair and chief technology officer, proposed the “Vegas Octagon” as the location for their billionaire brawl, likely referring to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. In addition, he added in jest that he had a “move” he calls the “Walrus” in which he lies on top of his opponent while doing nothing.

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla nonetheless stated in a letter that he would comply “if this is for real.” A spokeswoman for Meta told CBS News on the altercation, “The story speaks for itself.” Musk is a few inches taller than Zuckerberg, but it’s unknown what kind of fighter he is, and he claims to work out very little. Zuckerberg, however, recently took first place and second place in his first jiu-jitsu competition.

It’s uncertain whether either businessman is sincere about the match. Whether it occurs or not, talk about the probable battle has already spread. Jake Paul, a pro boxer and social media sensation, promised Musk that he would “gladly promote” it.

The business executives who have publicly argued about their platforms don’t seem to be on good terms. On his platform, Musk has mocked Zuckerberg and slammed the Metaverse. In the meanwhile, Zuckerberg stated in a podcast that he thinks Twitter should have a “billion people using it.”
